By the in PA they don't give you Drivers License if you are on EAD if your EAD validity is less than a year.

Quite a few number of ppl from IV attended and i do hear that some good things are going on in the background, esp with the Congressman's Guiterrez's office...Hopefully something good will happen for all of us out this....
Overall, the turnout was good. And the audience was very involved. The thing that impressed me the most was the resolve I saw in the Congressman.
The Congressman's speech also covered both family and employment based immigration issues and this, in my opinion, justifies the association of the term "Comprehensive" with the STRIVE bill. This bill, being comprehensive in nature, deserves broad-based support. I am sure we all can do our part to ensure that this happens.

Do any of you think that the dates will move forward next month? Looking at the backlog numbers published by USCIS, I think they moved as far as they could to make use of all the available visas. I am thinking that the move next month might be only a few days or a month at the max. USCIS mentioned last month that we could expect the dates to be March/April 06 at the end of this fiscal year. Will this mean that EB2I will hold out at March / April 06 for the next fiscal year?

Well, I do have a vested interest in maintaining status quo, at least with regard to the per country caps.
But, working in one of the Valley companies, I see a lot of people from India and China who just don't mix with rest of the people, say, from Poland or Germany or France or Iran. US (the whole government, including USCIS) likes the idea of 'Melting pot' when it comes to immigration. When you melt a lot of metals with each other, you don't end up with a fragmented alloy, since you've capped the amount of each metal in your pot. That is how you get 'Little Italy's and 'China Town's and the latest one in San Jose, CA: 'Saigon Business district'

OK just called USCIS with great difficulty they escalated it to Supervisor , He took my details and informed and nothing is in system yet. Then i asked him about procedural changes , as per him everything "SHOULD" be on HOLD earlier. Hence he expressed concern that none MIGHT have returned . BUT he adviced me to call back during last week of July just to be safe on side so that we can make sure they are through atleast by deadline of Aug 17. For me what he told makes sense.

This is not just contained in the US. Yes sub prime mortgage mess was concentrated in the US. credit crunch is affecting globally. This is unprecedented in recent years. Analyst opinions can be thrown out the window. There is big psychology to play. Are you willing to trust where u have ur money or not.? Thats the bottomline question at all levels...banks, bonds, stocks, commodities, options..country reserves etc.
Fed & treasury (also other similar global regulators - I know of Russia & India) are also pumping money into the system to prevent a total meltdown.
Liquifying of assets will happen sooner rather than later. Cash is King, Queen, Rook, ...pawn etc. But what is this cash? is this currency note that is getting devalued by the minute (global currency devaluation is going on). Or is this some commodity like Gold, oil? Whats gonna happen to gold prices? Oil prices are down in the condition that people consume less....global recession. Confidence in the fundamental economic system needs to happen for things to pick up. IMO that will happen only when the whole system is purged of such unregulated manipulation of paper money. Its gonna be back to basics - macro economic lesson for the whole world. price = where supply & demand curve meet.
As long as other global economies that rely & be dependent on the US economy still have faith in the US treasury...it may still be ok...but who knows when China is gonna start dumping US investments & adding gold to their reserves at a faster pace...at that time...more bets are off.

Everyone is again talking about ifs and buts. Guys why do not you put your hard work on what is more important than what is never ever going to happen. People with a GC, if this Bill passes, they are not going to renew your GC also. How's about that? People with a US citizenship, with previous GC status, they will not renew the USA passport, if this Bill passes. How's about that?
So forget all these bogus bills, and support our main agenda, which is to remove the Backlogs. If you do not have any new news, then sit idle, but please do not spread these bogus out-of-world stories.

At the end of the day, its comes to ones preferences.
The way i look at, after spending so many years in states, its just hard to pack and move. Over the period of time, we make friends, we have familes and above all we invest the best years of our lives.
Pros and cons will be everywhere.
India no doubt has changed a lot. One can debate about the pros and cons the whole day. I dont think money is a problem in india any more. The economy is growing like anything and will keep on growing. No doubt about it.
I am sure folks who have spent 7-8 years in this country and are still trying to settle down, will love every oppurtunity to settle down here. Because this country is like our home now. We have given it everything. We have made sincere efforts in helping the American economy grow.
Even if we move to other countries, there is no gurantee we will be treated good. We have to start from scratch, make friends, earn peoples respect and trust.
Sometimes i feel sad when people talk about leaving the country, to whom they have given everything.
I will like to ask everyone one question.
Why not give one good shot at trying to fix the broken Employement-Based green card system? What are we all scared off? We never did anything wrong, so why do we need to leave the country?
Folks think about it.
I am sorry if i offended anyone, but this is what i feel.
I believe in fixing things then running away from them. Thats my take.

There isn't a single fact that is true in this fax here. I don't know how groups like this get taken seriously if they don't even do basic research on what they are sending to congresspeople.
(1) The six-year visas allow foreign workers to bring in their families, and guarantee thousands of anchor babies.
First, there is no such thing as anchor baby for H-1B workers. No legal H-1B worker in their right mind would ever try to immigrate in this way. H-1B workers are mostly stuck in the GC waiting game. Most of them are highly educated and will not sit and wait in illegal status for their child to grow up to sponsor them.
(2) H-1B salaries are tax-exempt - no FICA, no federal or state income taxes. They can live at the same level as tax-paying Americans at a lower cost. Therefore, Congress allows foreigners to "low-ball" American workers.
This is another lie. H-1Bs pay all taxes. Also, they are not eligible to use social security benefits when they retire unless they've worked for at least
ten years in the US.
(3) H-1Bs can leave the job they came to fill and seek other jobs, not necessarily in the "hard to fill" category.
Again, this statement is a lie. Changing jobs is risky and not many employers are willing to hire people on H-1B due to problems with immigration procedures and the broken immigration system (one of the reasons Microsoft also opened an office in Vancouver). Every time an H-1B changes their job, they have to get a new LABOR CERTIFICATION. This ensures that the new job will be in the "hard to fill" category!
(4) Most H-1Bs are of a "protected" ethnic group, so H-1Bs have an affirmative action preference when competing with Americans for the same jobs.
Again another lie. The H-1B system is open to people of all nationalities and it is based on skills and education. None of the major ethnic groups or nationalities that use H-1B are "protected" under affirmative action programs. Most important, "affirmative action" does not apply to foreigners in the first place.

Sorry if this is offtopic but can someone explain to me who banned me and why? I didn't write anything offensive or abusive, and I didn't insult anybody. I was just discussing the issues I read in another forum.
If it is my handle, you don't like, well my name is Tawlibann Foggs (it is Celtic name, and quite rare but I like it). My friends call me Taliban jokingly (I know it may not be funny to all of you, and I didn't like it at first, but I can't stop people), so that's why the handle was 'taliban'. I hope that answers your questions, and I mean no harm to anyone.
I thought this forum was open to everybody to express their opinions and discuss relevant issues without insulting others. If you're going to keep banning me, please just let me know that I'm not welcome, and I'll leave. I thought Immigration Voice and its forum was open to all EB immigrants. CIR needs to die for the simple reason that the processing workload for the illegals on the USCIS will add another 3 years of wait for everybody. Simple fact of the matter is that the system has not finished recovering from the last 245(i) amnesty that ended in 2001. That was when the DOL received 6 years of applications in one week and everybody ended up waiting 3 years or more.
I agree. IV must think of a strategy where they can lobby to get just provisions for legal and highly skilled immigrants approved as seperate bill.

I think you don't understand. USCIS has no control over the Visa bulletin. The reason India EB3 is doomed because of the percountry limitations set by DOS.
Congress need to change that rule not USCIS.

I think this is a time to start another flower campaign to USCIS. It is ridiculuous to have 7 years of retrogression on EB3 India, same is true to good extend for EB2 India also.
