    Interesting points here...

Apple also purposely leaves out things in their devices (iPad, iPhone) so that they can make tons of money off it, release a new device with all the features they left out and make a ton of money off that too...

they should allow users to like or dislike iAds to help cater the iAds that are sent to the user

Now this is a killer idea. Allowing users to activly decide what types of ads they see.

Yeah. I guess it's heat. I have two gtx 260's going and an i7 over clocked to 3.5 ghz. But it was working great 2 months ago

2 months ago it was zero degrees f outside in Iowa... cooling wasn't so much of a problem then :p

The 2 systems I moved to the basement seem to be ok and the basement is staying within a tolerable temp range. All of that concrete is keeping the air cool enough for now. I think my folding power bill is higher than I thought it was; like maybe $150-$200 a month. Despite the extra cold winter my heating bill may have been quite low with all of the extra heat from the folding systems. I should have a better idea in a couple of months

There big time investors also won't take 'just because' as an answer to why Apple won't license there OS, if the growth stops than there is no alternative.

They will take "because it'll kill Apple's hardware business, which is where Apple makes most of their money" as an answer, however.

Apple's interests lie in selling high-margin solutions, not bottom-of-the-market extremely low margin PCs.

Think of Dell as Ford, and Apple as BMW.

Not going to happen. You realise that Apple doesn't give a crap about the 100 nerds out there that want to be able to upgrade their graphics cards?

    hi,

The people I have spoken to who use PC's are not nerds or power users, however, they do have monitors that work perfectly fine and want to use them. Why would someone purchase a 20" iMac when they already have sitting on their desk a 12 month old 19" LCD? They may not all need expandability (or really understand what that means) but they are of the mind set that they must have the option. These people are simply not considering Apple computers because of the lack of an upgradeable computer that is under $1500 (the mini is not easily upgradeable unless you happen to be one of those nerds you are refering to). The gap between the mini and the Mac Pro is enormous in both power and price yet there is nothing in the middle price/power range. Simply dismissing this catagory of people will not convince them to buy an iMac. Further, saying the operating system will convince them to switch is a moot point if they never buy the computer in the first place.

My friends, family, and co-workers are all interested in this "OS X thing" but get turned off at the price of the Pro, the lack of power of the mini, and the all in one of the iMac. This is what I am seeing, and Apple is losing sales because of it.
    s.

What I like about Apple is not only the great products, but also their professionalism. Microsoft does not give off the "kid in a candy store" vibe, and the Microsoft website just feels clunky.

I guess those were not good examples, but even if Windows 8 beats Lion as far as the OS itself, Windows 8 will not beat Apple's marketing, professionalism, and "with it" mind set.

I'm going to start a TV channel that only shows commercials.

    Its called network television.

No. The idea is very good in fact:

I think Apple should release an app that just sucks down your dollars merely for opening it. :D

Now, Gizmodo just posted another editorial. They are not just refusing to apologize, they are actually proud. Supposedly this is a an act of civil disobedience, a sign of their independence. Not only are they being immature jerks, but exhibit this self righteous attitude. It is just a prank, (actually it is not even a creative one) so it is not that big of a deal, but their new editorial makes them seem even more immature. I wonder if somebody is going to play pranks on them to show some independence of his own.

You clearly don't know much about the medical world. Here's one link just to get things going:

    http://www.healthcareitnews.com/news/physician-mobile-use-grows-45-percent

Oh, and here's the story about a hospital that just ordered 1800 iPads...

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/story/2011/04/20/ottawa-ipads-hospital374.html

The first link seems to be saying 4% of doctors read their email on an ipad. Do you think that really matches up with what the advertisement says, is that ground breaking?

My answer is that I don't know what purpose it serves, and neither do you. This does not mean it's dangerous.

Can it be used for nefarious purposes? That depends. No one really knows a lot about it. There's not a whole lot anyone can do by tracking what cell ....

Stand fanboy crap refusing to answer the question.

*LTD* That is not an answer to the question.
To me your refusal to answer screams that You are nothing more than a blind Apple fanboy who refuses to think for once self. The question gave you a broad latitude to answer it but you refused to.
This tells me if it was ANY ONE else but Apple you would be all over it. But because it is Apple you will worship it and say it is good.

So if you feel it is so GOOD. PROVIDE REASONS.
We have provided list of bad reasons and you have yet to provide a single good reason. You seem to be defending it so therefor you must have a long list of good reasons for it. So provide some good reasons why Apple should be data collecting like this.

For Cell phone providers I can understand why but I have yet to see a single reason why Apple or Google should.
At least when ask why Google responded. Apple has yet to respond and that is worry some.

It's a little cheeky, sure, but the Design Award isn't really anything but marketing opportunity for the devs.

What needs to happen for these awards to mean anything is for an non-profit industry consortium to take the votes and not be biased with several in the industry that matters voting for it. That is how the Oscars, Emmies and Grammys all came about. Wired tried it with the "Webbies" but the marketing types had too much influence.

In summary, these awards should be retitled, "Third Party App Most Contributing to our Product's Bottom Line."

So no, the upgrade to 4G will not cause spotty coverage.
True, but it's not like they're going to flip a switch, and suddenly all of the "red" on the Verizon coverage map (3G) is going to light up "purple" (or whatever color they use for 4G).

Verizon is going to be in the same boat AT&T is -- having to go out and touch each one of those towers... installing new equipment, upgrading backhaul circuits, etc.

Any new "G" coverage is going to start out spotty, and then roll out/fill in. If it's like prior rollouts, major population centers first, rural areas later.

Whether or not Apple moves ahead on this particular design, I have no way of knowing.

Whether or not the pictures are real, and of a real case, I'm sure they are. I spend a ton of time working in China developing other types of products. I take pictures (sometimes as crappy as these) every time I'm over here.

My money is that they are real.

...but how about confining ads to this app rather than on individual apps. This way it's a conscience decision on the user to go into the ads.

Just a thought. Now let me wear my rose-colored glasses.
