Finally bit the bullet and abandoned my BlackBerry Tour in favor of an iPhone 4. See you in hell, BlackBerry!

I'm all for people loving their apple products. I love my iPhone too. But unlike some of these apple fans, I don't consider my iPhone to be the holy grail of smartphones.
Completely agree. The iPhone 4 is nice, but not perfect. Hardware wise, and Software wise it needs a lot of work. I guess that's too much to swallow for some people.

The only thing that would convince me to upgrade would be a bigger screen. If not then... fuggedit.

The better question here, is why do you feel so immune to violent crime?
What makes you think he feels immune to violent crime?
The opposite is probably true.
The fact that guns are so prevalent in America makes it more likely that any one of us will find ourselves on the wrong end of one.
Given the choice, I'd much rather have the robber hold me up with a knife, than a gun.
I shouldn't have to a gun on me to feel safe in my community.
I agree.
The old saying, guns don't kill people, people do, has a logical extension ...
Guns don't protect people, people do.
We need to rely less on bullets, and more on each other.

I agree with you on this- the comments were definitely rude.
But I still don't think you get my point (and this includes the guy who posted below my previous post). That it doesn't mean that the other person is jealous of you. Its this attitude that irks me. And its this very attitude that so many "fanboys" share. Why in the world would someone be JEALOUS of you because you have a $200-$300 phone or even a $1500 computer?!? And because you think others envy you for it, you end up placing extraordinary value on everyday material things. I mean, seriously, is this what you use to define your status in society, what kind of phone you carry? Are you really that shallow and materialistic? I honestly feel pity for you.
To the other poster. You were jealous of (or "hated") those who had iphones until you got one for yourself. Now you believe that everyone around you is jealous of you.
I understand, you buy something trendy, and it makes you feel good. Thats great, I'm not arguing with that, because you should enjoy everything you have. But its this faux sense of superiority that comes with it, that makes you believe that others are envious of you because you bought this gadget. Its not like you've won the Nobel prize or even drive a Bugatti Veyron, that would make someone want what you have. No, you bought a phone. A phone that lots of people already have. A phone that my housekeeper's 11 year old son has. And any Joe Schmoe can walk into any Apple store/Walmart/Best Buy and pick one up. And when the new model comes out, you'll buy that as well, because you're chronically unsatisfied with what you have, and somehow, you feel that owning this will raise you up above the rest of society. It is people with attitudes like this (the attitude of the fanboy) that Apple capitalizes on.
Take this as a life lesson -- set your goals higher. Don't be envious of the guy with the cooler phone.
Oh my, you really missed the point with this one. Maybe you are right and I'm exaggerating, but if someone flat out starts being rude to someone because they see them with something, then I'm struggling to think of a reason. By no means am I placing extraordinary value on it, what have I been repeating through every page of this thread? Its just a damn phone. Keep your life lessons to yourself and try not to be so condescending.
Also, reality is that there are a lot of people out there that get jealous of material things. Some people get jealous when they see others drive a nicer car, some get jealous when they see someone with nicer shoes then them. I perfectly understand the shallowness of the human condition. I'm simply pointing out an observation based on my own personal experience within the last few days.

There are already armed marshall on many flights in the US. WHen was the last time we had a shoot out in the sky?
His point was remove the TSA security check and only have only armed air marshals. Bringing a gun to a bomb fight is like bringing a knife to a gun fight.
My point was that the TSA security does provide a buffer to keep terrorists from boarding a plane packed with explosives where an armed masrhal is going to be useless.
The world we once knew no longer exists, time to get used to it.

what if they make an amd based substitute of the 12' powerbook? that'd be awesome, I would definitely go for it. i really miss a pro laptop that's not as big as the 15' .... the macbooks with their plastic alloy and glossy screen aren't appealing at all, considering they don't even have a decent graphic card....:(

You seem like a joy to be around.
What you did is inexcusably wrong, what do you expect? The "stoner," as you so eloquently put it, probably lost his job, and you're trying to make excuses for yourself.
Grow up.
Oh and by the way, ever heard of projection? I'm pretty sure my sex life has nothing to do with this dumb site. You seem a little unsettled though. Just saying.
Well... The good in this, is that you saved cash, and if he did get fired you taught this boy a very valuable lesson, one in which he will not soon forget. He will find another job, he will grow up and use this story and be careful and attentive at his job.

I find it hilarious that Steve Jobs claimed Apple was not tracking users, but now all of a sudden we find Location tracking being completely removed from this version of iOS, that is honestly something that annoyes me..
Still haven't seen a single post from you that had any backing or even knowledge of anything. Just how young are you, anyway?
is there any way we can view our own tracked info. it would be cool to see where i have been.
You can't remember? Was there a lot of alcohol?
I know I'm late in this thread.. but, the supposed battery life improvements, is that simply the result of iOS no longer tracking so much information? Or is it the result of real unrelated improvements?
There have been unrelated complaints about battery life since 4.3 came out, and for the entire existence of the Verizon version. Maybe they've finally addressed that.
This is the point. It doesn't matter which side of the coin you're on regarding privacy. Off means off. On means on.
This is the ONLY reasonable issue, and it hardly matters. All the rest is Apple hating and stupidity. Congrats on the side you've chosen.
Name one manufacturer of consumer electronics who does ALL of their manufacturing in the continental USA.
SVSound speaker company. Although they source components from elsewhere.
We kind of liked the fact that we could look at where you've been with your iPhone, too.
Signed,
Mr. Mugger, Mr. Thief and Mr. Robber Man
Only if you stole it, first. So I corrected your signature.
And your option is...?
Personally, I'd like to know if the deletion that results from turning off Location Services results in slower response time when you turn it back on. Does turning it back on give you a sufficient download from the mothership to get you up and running again quickly?
Now that's a good question.

Please also replace those crappy black white icons with colored ones. What is wrong with colors? Is lion color-alergic??
What is odd is that Apple has these great IPS screen on the iMac, ACD and the have gone with a neutral scheme to focus on the content.
I still preferred the "pinstripes" of Mac OS 10.0, loved the eye-candy and the rainbow of colours.
Neutral is alright, just want some colour back into the GUI. Then again you will always have those who will never agree with anything. ;)

I was under the impression you had.
You were the first person to use the word "ban".
I was responding directly to you post.
I apologize for using the same term you had.
It was a poor choice of words ... for both of us.
However, in my posts immediately preceding the one in question, I used the word "fewer".
Not zero, no ban ... just fewer.

iPod touch + new apps = $20.
Heh. No.

If you have a touch, which I doubt, you'd be more than willing to get those updates for $20! It's a steal!

Considering communism is dependent on control of the resources so they can be equally doled out, it's not free and open. You're thinking of anarchy.
Your username is appropriate.
I'm on an unlimited plan, so how do I pay for tethering? I use around 8 GB/month because I stream music, so I can't give up my unlimited. If AT&T offered the option to add a tethering plan, I would take them up on it.
I would gladly pay $20 a month to tether on my unlimited plan.

I really hope the Zune becomes a real competitor and threat to Ipod. I am sick of apple sitting on their ass and giving us minimal improvements to the ipod. I want a wide screen, good battery life, THIN and sleek and sturdy. I will not buy a zune but I hope this pushes apple to bring us the goddamn widescreen ipod.

A few people have mentioned webcasts and things streamed to London. I live in the UK, can anyone clear things up, am I going to be able to watch the event on the net live (if so, where), or will I just have to make sense of the text scrolling up the screen on this site?
Jamie
It's streamed to a room with selected journalists, no member of the public will see it until it's posted in full later on by Apple on their website.
