Your insurance company will give you that letter....no specific amount but stating that international coverage is there. I have used that letter for Schengen visa in German consulate 4 times and it has worked well.
Has anybody recently applied for a Schengen Visa, if yes, can you please let me know what you did for the travel insurance. The insurance from my employer (Humana) says they cover international but do not have a letter that states the same and Swedish consulate website says the letter should specifically say "International Coverage".
What are my options. Can you guys suggest where I can buy the insurance from.

No more "status changes" e.g. f1->h1, L1->h1,even h4->h1 is allowed. Only Extensions are allowed in Mexico..

Who Can Apply in Mexico
* Applicants seeking to renew their visa in any category except B1/2 (tourist/business), if the initial visa was issued in the applicant's home country.
Also Note(in blue font):
Notice: Certain visa applicants may be subject to additional administrative processing. This administrative processing may last weeks, thus delaying visa delivery and the applicant's return to the United States.
I'd rather prefer Canada for stamping(if these rules dont apply there) .

Last week out of a project..my desi consultancy sent me a termination notice(on H1 with this guy). 485 filed in July 2007. got EAD. I am looking for a project right now. Planning to join on EAD and look for a job.
What are my options? I am in status?

u r in status of pending-AOS. So if you forget about H1 for new job and take it up on EAD, you are all set.
If you try to do H1 transfer and the gap from now to tha ttransfer is a lot, then they might not extend the H1 status and you'll need to leave and re-enter the US.

Again. Amendment 140 filed (((on 07/02/07 (RD) and 08/30/07 (ND) at TSC)) by the new company, which tookover our earlier company (New co.Much bigger in size).
Now, I have original 140 approved, and Amendment still pending. PD is current, just waiting to see how it would imapact. :confused:
Any advise from Seniors/ Gurus.. :)

I am not entirely sure but there is a provision called "Follow to Join" that allows you to apply for spouse's 485, 6 months after your 485 is approved. The only condition you need to satisfy is that you should have married your spouse before your 485 approval date. Ask your lawyer about it. I think you should be fine. About legal status since your spouse's 485 is rejected and ur h1 is invaldiated due to your 485 approval, i dont know and you need to aks your lawyer about it.

Forgive me but being an active volunteer I am seeing state of the affair so was compelled to make these comments.
You are on 8th year of extension and this is a very stressful moment for you.
IV probably can't help you a lot at this time as it is after the fact but it can help others before such thing happens.
We are a growing union, which is run by people like you and me. If folks are not actively involved loobying for a) getting laws changed b) developing relationships with law makers and USCIS c) creating leverage of our unity over lawyers, these incidents will continue to happen.
If we had become powerful enough, then in the cases like this IV would have hold high level meeting with USCIS to resolve this gentleman problem. But unfortunately, we are still a strugling union to get members to volunteer.

I checked my case status in July 07 and it displayed case closed. I called my lawyer and basically the response I got was she did not respond in time to a rescruitment instructions report sent by DOL in March 07 and hence the case was closed. My company has been supportive through this process and its only my lawyer whose been horrible.
While part of me wanted to do strangle her, the other part (guessing the sendible part) made me realize I needed to get this resolved.

2. Can I change my attorney in this situation and have him/her try to get the case reopened?

Regardless of the nature of the outcome from USCIS, I think we should all take 5-10 minutes out of our busy lives and all the "predicting" and dash off a quick note of thanks to Congresswoman Lofgren

If they are planing for such process and so confident about passing it soon in 2010 why would they layoff tons of temp and perm trained employees because of 100 Million gap in budget.
I think whole thing is politics. One day Mr President says it will happen , next day Vice President says will not happen ... few days after Senators agrees to introduce by certain date, but does not. Again congress man agrees to introduce but not going to happen. and then all sudden USCIS directors says they are working on it with laying off people.
All these talks are only talks .. There will not be any firm action by this administration or congress.

Situation :
My 485, 765, 131 applications reached USCIS on Aug 17th.
Soon after that moved to a different apartment in the same city. Updated US Post office for redirection of my mails to the new address. However, the address in the USCIS has not been updated.
on Oct 10th got the checks cashed for 485, 765 and 131
The address was updated in USCIS only yesterday (Oct 24).
I haven't got the reciepts yet and need to visit India on Nov 4th.
My questions:
1. Not sure if USCIS has already sent the reciept notices to my previous address. If they were sent to previous address will they be redirected to the new address or they will be returned back to USCIS?
2. Some one mentioned that mails from USCIS will not be redirected but will be returned back to USCIS. Is this true?
3. Approx. how much time it takes to recieve the reciept notice once the checks are encashed? for me it is already 15days over and haven't recieved the reciept notice at my new address.

How long did it take for your MTR process from the time you submitted till the time your attorney received the I485 re-opening letter?
Specifically, how long after sending MTR did you get the receipt notice that MTR was receive and how many days after that did the letter to reopen arrive?
I have an d MTR in the works in TX service center and trying to find how long they are taking these days.
